Whipped Feta Dip with Hot Honey and Toasted Pistachios

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A creamy, tangy, and sweet whipped feta dip that is easy to make and perfect for getting kids involved in the kitchen. This no-cook recipe features a smooth cheese base topped with spicy hot honey and crunchy toasted pistachios.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz block feta cheese (packed in brine)
  • 1/2 cup full-fat plain Greek yogurt
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 1 small clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 34 tablespoons hot honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted pistachios (toasted and chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Drain the feta cheese in a fine-mesh strainer for 10 minutes to remove excess brine, then pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Let the cream cheese soften at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  3. Add the drained feta, softened cream cheese, Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon zest, and lemon juice to a food processor.
  4. Pulse a few times to break up the cheese, then blend on medium-high speed for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth and creamy. Scrape down sides as needed.
  5. Transfer the whipped feta mixture to a serving bowl and smooth the top.
  6. Optional: Refrigerate for 30 minutes to help flavors meld and the dip firm up.
  7. If making homemade hot honey, combine 1/2 cup honey and 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly, then cool for 5 minutes. Warm store-bought honey slightly in the microwave for easier drizzling.
  8. Toast pistachios in a small skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Let cool completely, then chop roughly.
  9. Drizzle the warm hot honey generously over the whipped feta in a zigzag pattern.
  10. Sprinkle with chopped pistachios, red pepper flakes, and a drizzle of olive oil.
  11. Serve immediately with warm pita, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

[‘Use block feta, not pre-crumbled, as pre-crumbled contains anti-caking agents that prevent smooth whipping.’, ‘Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps.’, ‘Draining the feta well is crucial to prevent a runny dip.’, ‘Toast nuts to enhance flavor and texture.’, ‘This dip is best served at room temperature or slightly chilled.’, ‘Do not freeze, as the dairy texture will change upon thawing.’]
