Vegan Strawberry Matcha Latte: 5-Min Bright Morning Recipe

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A creamy, vibrant, and energizing vegan matcha latte made with frozen strawberries and oat milk. This quick 5-minute recipe provides a gentle caffeine boost without the crash, perfect for a bright morning ritual.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 teaspoons ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (not boiling, approx. 175°F/80°C)
  • ½ cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup unsweetened plant-based milk (oat milk recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Ice cubes (for iced version)
  • Vegan whipped cream (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a mug to remove clumps.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of hot water to the matcha and whisk vigorously in a ‘W’ motion until a smooth, bright green paste forms.
  3. In a blender, combine the thawed frozen strawberries, plant-based milk, maple syrup (if using), and vanilla extract.
  4. Blend on high until completely smooth. If making hot, gently heat the milk before or after blending.
  5. For iced version: Fill a glass with ice, pour in the strawberry milk, then slowly pour the matcha paste over the top to create layers.
  6. For hot version: Pour the strawberry milk into the mug with the matcha paste. Stir for a uniform color or leave layered for visual effect.
  7. Garnish with vegan whipped cream and a pinch of matcha powder if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not use boiling water for matcha as it scorches the leaves and creates bitterness; let water cool for 60-90 seconds after boiling. Sift matcha every time to prevent clumps. Thaw strawberries slightly before blending for a smoother texture. Oat milk is recommended for its creamy texture and neutral flavor.
