Description
A refreshing, sugar-free iced tea made with fresh peaches, black tea, and mint. This simple summer drink uses ripe fruit for natural sweetness and requires no added sugar or artificial sweeteners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium fresh peaches, halved and pitted (about 600g)
- 4 black tea bags (or 2 teaspoons loose leaf)
- 1 large bunch fresh mint leaves (about 1 cup packed)
- 4 cups water (divided)
- 2–4 tablespoons natural sweetener (optional, such as monk fruit, stevia, or erythritol)
- Ice cubes
- 1 lemon or 2 limes, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Wash peaches thoroughly. Cut in half, remove pits, and chop into rough chunks. Leave skin on for ripe peaches or peel if firm.
- Place peach chunks in a medium saucepan with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes until peaches break down.
- Mash the peaches into a pulp using a masher or fork to extract natural juices.
- Remove the pot from heat. Add tea bags and chopped mint leaves. Steep for 5 minutes. Do not over-steep to avoid bitterness.
- Remove tea bags. Taste the liquid; add optional sweetener if desired while warm to help it dissolve. Stir well.
- Let the mixture cool to room temperature (approximately 10 minutes).
- Strain the mixture into a large pitcher to remove pulp and mint bits.
- Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water. Taste and adjust if needed.
- Serve immediately over ice with lemon or lime wedges.
Notes
Use ripe peaches for maximum natural sweetness. Do not over-steep the mint as it can become grassy. A pinch of sea salt can enhance the fruit flavor. This drink keeps in the fridge for up to 3 days. For a fizzy version, replace half the cold water with sparkling water.
