Reeses Peanut Butter Poke Cake for Two: No Leftovers

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Description

A small-batch, rich chocolate and peanut butter poke cake designed for two people, featuring a moist yellow cake base soaked in warm peanut butter ganache and topped with chopped Reese’s cups.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 15.25 oz box yellow cake mix
  • 3.4 oz box instant chocolate pudding mix
  • ½ cup hot water
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup Reese’s Peanut Butter Chips
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 23 cups Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, chopped
  • Mini Reese’s Pieces (optional, for garnish)
  • Sea Salt Flakes (optional)
  • Whipped Cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 6-inch round cake pans or large ramekins and line with parchment paper if using pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together yellow cake mix, instant chocolate pudding mix, hot water, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Divide batter evenly between the two prepared pans or ramekins.
  4. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  5. While cakes are still warm, poke holes all over the top with a fork, going down to the bottom.
  6. In a small saucepan over low heat (or microwave in 15-second intervals), melt peanut butter chips and heavy cream together until smooth and glossy.
  7. Slowly pour the warm peanut butter ganache over the poked cakes, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  8. Immediately sprinkle chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups over the top.
  9. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set the ganache before serving.

Notes

Poke the holes while the cake is still warm to ensure the ganache soaks in properly. Do not overbake to maintain moisture. The cake can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the fridge. For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free cake mix and check the pudding mix for gluten content.
