Description
A rich, creamy, and sophisticated homemade hot chocolate made with real pumpkin puree and white chocolate. This cozy winter drink balances sweetness with savory spices and takes only five minutes to prepare.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1 cup white chocolate chips (high quality with cocoa butter)
- 2 tablespoons pure pumpkin puree
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream (optional)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- Whipped cream (for topping)
- Mini marshmallows (for topping)
- Pumpkin pie spice (for topping)
- White chocolate shavings (for topping)
Instructions
- Pour the whole milk into a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Warm until small bubbles form around the edges, about 3 minutes. Do not boil.
- Whisk in the pumpkin puree, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk vigorously until the mixture is smooth and orange-tinted.
- Reduce heat to low. Add the white chocolate chips and stir constantly with a silicone spatula or wooden spoon for about 2 minutes until fully melted and glossy.
- Remove from heat. Stir in the heavy cream (if using) and vanilla extract.
- Taste and adjust spices or sweetness if desired.
- Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream, mini marshmallows, pumpkin pie spice, or white chocolate shavings. Serve immediately.
Notes
Do not boil the milk as it can scald and separate from the chocolate. Whisk the pumpkin puree into the warm milk first to prevent clumping. Use high-quality white chocolate chips with real cocoa butter for the best flavor and texture. For a dairy-free version, substitute oat milk and dairy-free white chocolate chips.
