High-Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Description

A thick, creamy, and high-protein breakfast smoothie that tastes like a milkshake. Made with frozen bananas, chocolate protein powder, and peanut butter, it provides sustained energy without the mid-morning crash.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large banana, frozen
  • 2 tablespoons natural creamy peanut butter
  • 1 scoop (about 30g) chocolate protein powder (whey or plant-based)
  • 1 cup (240ml) unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: A handful of spinach

Instructions

  1. If using fresh bananas, peel and break them into chunks, then freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Pour the almond milk into the blender pitcher to help the blades move freely.
  3. Add the frozen banana chunks, peanut butter, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, and ice cubes to the blender.
  4. Add any optional ingredients like maple syrup, vanilla extract, or spinach.
  5. Blend on low speed initially to break up the frozen banana, then gradually increase to high speed.
  6. Blend for 45-60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  7. Taste the smoothie and adjust sweetness or thickness as needed by adding more syrup or milk.
  8. Pour into a tall glass and serve immediately.

Notes

Frozen bananas are crucial for achieving a thick, creamy texture. If the smoothie is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time. If it is too thin, add more frozen banana or ice. For meal prep, pre-portion dry ingredients into bags for quick morning assembly.
