Easy Maple Glazed Turkey Breast: Budget-Family Dinner

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 1 hour 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A juicy, budget-friendly bone-in turkey breast roasted with a sticky, sweet, and savory maple glaze. This recipe ensures moist meat through brining and proper temperature control, making it perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 pounds bone-in, skin-on turkey breast
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt (for brine)
  • 4 cups cold water (for brine)
  • 1/2 cup real maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Brine the turkey: Mix salt and water until dissolved. Submerge turkey breast in the brine for at least 4 hours or overnight. Remove and pat completely dry with paper towels.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Let the dried turkey breast sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  3. Make the glaze: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine maple syrup, melted butter, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, sage, pepper, and salt. Stir until smooth and combined. Do not boil.
  4. Season and roast: Place turkey skin-side up in a roasting pan. Pour half the glaze over the turkey, rubbing it into the skin. Roast for 45 minutes.
  5. Baste and finish: Remove turkey from oven. Brush remaining glaze over the top. Return to oven and roast for another 30-45 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (74°C). Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
  6. Rest the meat: Remove turkey from oven and transfer to a cutting board. Tent loosely with foil and rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
  7. Slice against the grain and serve with pan drippings.

Notes

Do not skip the resting step; it allows juices to redistribute. Check temperature early, pulling at 160°F as it will rise to 165°F during resting. For a dairy-free version, swap butter for olive oil. Ensure maple syrup is real, not pancake syrup.
