Description
A refreshing, homemade version of the popular Starbucks drink featuring bold espresso, caramelized brown sugar, and creamy oat milk, shaken with ice for a frothy texture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 shots espresso (about 18-20g beans)
- 2–3 tablespoons brown sugar (30-45g)
- 2–3 tablespoons water
- 1 cup ice cubes (240ml)
- 1 cup oat milk (240ml)
- Optional: Extra brown sugar for topping
Instructions
- Brew 2-3 shots of espresso (or strong coffee) and pour immediately into a cocktail shaker or large mason jar while hot.
- Add brown sugar and water to the hot espresso. Stir vigorously until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Fill the shaker about halfway with ice cubes.
- Pour the espresso and sugar mixture over the ice.
- Secure the lid and shake hard for 15-20 seconds until the liquid is chilled and frothy.
- Fill a serving glass with fresh ice and pour in the oat milk.
- Strain the shaken espresso mixture over the oat milk to create layers.
- Top with a sprinkle of brown sugar if desired and serve immediately.
Notes
Use hot espresso to ensure the brown sugar dissolves completely. Shake for a full 15-20 seconds to create the signature foam. If using a mason jar, ensure the lid is tight to prevent leaks. For a vanilla variation, add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Do not freeze this drink as the texture will separate.
