Description
A quick, budget-friendly, and kid-approved mini pizza bagel recipe that takes only 10 minutes to make. Perfect for busy weeknights, after-school snacks, or chaotic mornings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large plain bagels (or 8 halves)
- 1 cup (240g) marinara sauce
- 2 cups (200g) shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese
- 1 package pepperoni slices (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup extra marinara sauce for dipping
- Cooking oil spray or olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and position the rack in the upper-middle position.
- Slice bagels in half horizontally and place them cut-side up on a baking sheet.
- Lightly spray or brush the bagel halves with cooking oil or olive oil to help them crisp up.
- Sprinkle each half with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- If using pepperoni, lay the slices on the bagels now.
- Spread about 1 tablespoon of marinara sauce on each half.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella over the sauce.
- Broil for 3-5 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese is bubbly and browned in spots.
- Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Let cool for 2 minutes to allow the cheese to set.
- Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
Use low-moisture mozzarella to prevent soggy bagels. Do not skip the oil spray as it helps crisp the bagel. Watch the broiler closely as ovens vary; cheese can burn quickly. These freeze well for up to 2 months.
