Description

Easy, make-ahead breakfast sandwiches featuring buttery croissants, sliced ham, and cheddar cheese. Perfect for busy mornings and budget-conscious families.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1216 large croissants (store brand or frozen)
  • 1216 slices sliced ham (honey or Virginia ham)
  • 1216 slices cheddar cheese (mild or sharp)
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash, optional)
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds or sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice croissants in half horizontally. Lay them cut-side up on the baking sheet.
  3. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the bottom half of each croissant.
  4. Add a slice of ham and a slice of cheese to each bottom half. Press down gently.
  5. Top with the other half of the croissant.
  6. Brush the tops generously with melted butter. Optionally brush with egg wash and sprinkle with seeds.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  8. Cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Can be assembled the night before and refrigerated. For make-ahead, cover tightly with plastic wrap. If using frozen croissants, thaw slightly or add 2-3 minutes to baking time. Do not overfill to prevent bursting.
