  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Crispy, spicy, and creamy air fryer bang bang shrimp made in just 10 minutes. This healthier alternative to takeout uses a light cornstarch coating and a homemade spicy sriracha mayo for a restaurant-quality result without the grease.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound frozen raw shrimp (medium or large, peeled and deveined)
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Pinch of salt and pepper (optional)
  • ½ cup full-fat mayonnaise
  • 23 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Thaw frozen shrimp under cold running water for 5 minutes if necessary. Pat them completely dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  2. In a shallow dish or bowl, mix cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Place dried shrimp in a large bowl and toss with the cornstarch mixture until lightly coated. Shake off any excess.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes if your model allows.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil spray. Arrange shrimp in a single layer without overlapping.
  6. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until shrimp are pink, opaque, and crispy. Internal temperature should reach 145°F.
  7. While shrimp cook, whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha, honey, lime juice, and minced garlic in a small bowl. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  8. Transfer cooked shrimp to a serving bowl and drizzle with the spicy sriracha mayo. Toss gently to coat.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure shrimp are completely dry before coating to prevent steaming. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary for maximum crispiness. The sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
